Scamp's of Approval
As a professional critic of sauages, and connoisseur of cheesey chips, I’ve been doing the rounds of this town’s dog‑friendly cafés, and let me tell you the scene is booming. Everywhere I turn, someone’s opening a new place, and so many of them are dog friendly. Here’s my official verdict on the best spots in Eastbourne!
The Doggie‑Menu Crew
These places have finally realised that dogs aren’t just “allowed” — we are customers. and they have their very own doggie menus:
The Ship Inn: A light and airy traditional, friendly, pub with superior doggie menu, great vibes and adoring humans.
The Beach Deck: Stunning beachfront views and fantastic attentive service
The Good Grub: Vegan but still very tasty!
Holywell Tea Chalet: A seafront stroll, snack and attention! Sausages always cooked and ready to go!
Bill’s: Trendy, tasty, and a respectable offering — I approve.
Glass House: Bright, spacious, and a stonking doggie Sunday Roast, free when your humans eat there - yup! You heard me right! FREE!.
Sausage Heavens!
Favolosso Café: My Heart, My Home, My Sausage Kingdom. Mark, Lisa, and the whole team? Angels. Saints. Visionaries. They bring out free bowls of sausage like it’s the most natural thing in the world. And honestly, it should be. If I ever write my autobiography, they’re getting a whole chapter.
Kessa Coffee House: Hot Dog Heaven! Yaghana is just like my personal chef. She brings me a huge bowl of finely chopped hot dogs, and I inhale it with the grace and dignity of a seasoned professional. I have to say, if Michelin did dog ratings, Kessa would have three stars!
Ren’s Café: How do I describe the sausages here? They are HUGE! They are MEATY! They are MAGNIFICENT!
The Kiosk: The Downs Walk Reward Stop. After a long stroll across the Downs (dragging my humans behind me), I swing by the Kiosk for a sausage and a treat. It’s my ritual. My routine. My reason for walking slightly faster on the way back.
and the cheesey chip crown...
Hail Mary Games: Let me be clear: These are the best cheesy chips in Eastbourne. They are smothered, not sprinkled, not drizzled, not timidly topped, absolutely, unreservedly, smothered in melted cheese! It's also a games café, stuffed with board games to keep the humans occupied.
