Microchipping
It is a legal requirement that all dogs in the UK have to be microchipped and registered by the time they are 8 weeks old.
A microchip is an electronic identification tag. It is implanted just below a dogs skin between the shoulder blades at the back of our necks. It is only a very small thing - about the size of a grain of rice.
If you get separated from your human the electronic chip can be scanned and the unique number on it will help you get reunited with your family once again. Just make sure your human keeps their address and phone number information up to date with the company you are chipped with.
The microchip is permanent, it might move slightly - but that is rare.
Vets will offer a microchipping service and in Eastbourne there are also these additional services.
